What good is science if it doesn’t inspire the younger generations? Not much good at all, really, which is why this fourth grade class from North Carolina is positively joy-inducing.
Known as “Aaron’s Class” out of Durham, these kids are raising money to power their classroom with green energy. The original goal of $800 would have been enough to keep their class humming with clean energy from a solar power system, but the kids managed to raise $3,515. That means their initiative will power other classrooms as well.
They’re also learning how electricity and solar and wind power work. Now that they’ve raised over $3,500, each child in the classroom can build their own wind turbine along with using the new solar panels.
